Lecture, three hours. Survey of history, anthropology, and archaeology of Scandinavian societies in Viking Age. Consideration of impact of Vikings on Europe and beyond, and depiction of Vikings in sagas and other post-Viking-Age sources. Readings draw on medieval texts and secondary material.
