Which of these two GEs fits better? I work Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and I'd rather avoid papers.

Planning pass: a quarter plan uses a substantial-plan allowance. A substantial replan also uses one.

I'd choose the Tuesday/Thursday option. Both options cover the remaining GE category in this example, but the Monday/Wednesday section overlaps your work hours.

The paper question is still open. The Tuesday/Thursday reports mention problem sets, but that does not rule out papers. The other option has a reported final paper. Check the current syllabus before choosing on workload.

The tradeoff: two finals on the same day. They do not overlap, so the plan still fits, but you may prefer a different option.

Before enrolling, check the exact lecture and discussion, current seats and your eligibility.

What if I want to avoid two finals on the same day?

Keep your required classes and compare another GE with a final on a different day. That may mean accepting a paper or a less convenient meeting time. I would keep the two-final option visible so you can compare the tradeoff; a missing final time would not count as a confirmed alternative.

Research search terms

Talking points and edits save encrypted in this signed-in browser session until the original form expires (up to 30 minutes). Full-email body edits save encrypted until the original draft expiry; copy them before it expires. In that editor, a service failure or a draft withheld by review allows one explicitly requested recovery attempt for the same lab and search, with no additional research debit. Re-enter and confirm your truthful facts, keeping them unchanged or correcting them. Service and review recovery share this one attempt; a draft may still be withheld. Current access and unchanged sources are required; an expired session must be reopened from an owned shortlist. No recovery attempt starts automatically. This recovery option does not apply to starter templates or drafts prepared outside the full email editor.

The curated UCLA pilot covers reviewed groups, not every lab or department. A completed search with no matches uses one search. A new topic uses another search; service failures restore the allowance.

Each completed search includes one refinement: add a focus or preference to the same research request. A completed refinement with no matches uses that refinement; a service failure restores it.

A new question, plan or substantial replan uses the same substantial request allowance. Short follow-ups explain or check an existing answer. Includes the premed tools.

One plan for the rest of your degree and 2 substantial revisions for the same student in the same conversation. Use the revisions within 120 days.

Your access period starts when payment is confirmed. No subscription or automatic renewal. If a Planning pass or Degree roadmap request fails without an answer, we restore that allowance. Saved Ask conversation answers remain available after access expires unless you delete them. Optional saved research briefs have a separate expiry, shown when you save; preparing fresh outreach also requires active research access. Existing purchases keep their original allowances.
