CHEM 153L · Lab 1F

Biochemical Methods I

Fall 2026Nguyen, A.4 units

Seats, time, final and grades

Seats

Closed by the department.

16 enrolled enrolled. The department published this count and no capacity, so there is no share to fill.

Its lecture reads closed by the department (117 enrolled): you attend both, so this seat is not one you can take while that holds. There is no waitlist either, so the only way in is somebody dropping the lecture.

Meets

W 2:00pm-5:50pm

This discussion only. You also attend Lec 1.

Wed 9 Dec, 8:00am to 11:00am

Watching is the one thing here that needs an account, because an alert needs somewhere to go. Everything else on this page works signed out.

Put this class on a board

A board is one quarter you are drafting, so it needs an account to live in. Signing in brings you straight back to this page, with this class still in front of you.

Before you can enroll

Tell dibs what you have already taken and this line will say which of these you have. Your list.

From the registrar limited until second pass

Any student attempting to save or sell a spot for another student is violating Student Conduct Code 102.23d and may be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students. Enrollment is limited to Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Chemistry/Materials Science majors on the priority and first enrollment passes. Any student may enroll on the second pass, space permitting. Do NOT contact the instructor for a PTE number. IF YOU ARE MORE THAN 15 MINUTES LATE TO LABORATORY DURING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF THE TERM, YOUR SPACE WILL BE REASSIGNED AND YOU MUST DROP THE COURSE YOURSELF. For the remainder of the term if you are more than 30 minutes late, you may NOT be able to complete the current laboratory and may not have the opportunity to make up the missed work, resulting in a nonpassing grade for that experiment.

This limit ends at an enrollment pass rather than on a date, and dibs does not hold the date second pass opens for Fall 2026, so it cannot say whether that pass has come. When it does, the registrar writes who may enroll then as “Any student may enroll on the second pass, space permitting.” So dibs cannot tell whether this class is open to you today, and it is not counting it as one you can take: your enrollment appointment on MyUCLA is what settles it.

Restrictions read 4 days ago. dibs re-reads these slowly because they rarely change; watch the section and it moves to every 6 hours.

What students say

dibs measures outcomes: grades, seats, how fast it fills. For what the class is actually like to sit in, BruinWalk has the reviews.

dibs has not read this course’s reviews, so it cannot say what kind of work it sets. That is dibs not having looked. It is not a course without papers or exams, and the reviews linked below are the answer until dibs catches up.

Will it still be here

Seats over time

Same seat count, but the status went waitlist to closed by the department, the waitlist moved and came back, and the cap stopped being published over about 1 month

16 of 16 · no seats left

All 8 readings say 16 enrolled, and the cap stopped being published.

dibs read 168 of the 884 hours its hourly record covers, 19%, and did not look in 716. dibs had no hourly record before 26 Aug, which is the other 188 of 1072 plotted.16 of 16 enrolled at the newest reading, 39 minutes ago, and no seats left. Seats from 18 Aug 04:30 to 1 Oct 19:02, 16 to 16. The line is flat across the whole window: recorded enrollment counts match. Changes between reads may be missed. dibs read 168 of the 884 hours its hourly record here covers, 19%. An hour marked as read confirms a check, not continuous monitoring. That check recorded no change; changes between checks may be missed. For 716 hours dibs was keeping a record and did not reach this section. Nothing before 26 August at 00:00, where this section's record starts, has a read either way, which is 188 hours of this window. Where the drawing is faint or broken, that never means the readings are doubtful. It means the stretch between them is unaccounted for.

A dot is a reading. Recorded enrollment counts match, so the line is flat across the whole window: it says when dibs looked rather than what changed. The last dot is the last time dibs read this section, moved or not: 39 minutes ago.

How readings and alerts work

A reading and an hourly record are different things, and most charts here hold more of the second missing than present. dibs has taken readings of a section since long before it began keeping an hour-by-hour log of when it looked, so the empty stretches are dibs saying it was not keeping that log yet, not that it looked and found nothing. That is the age of the record and not a fault.

Seat counts show the last successful read, not live availability. Refreshes can be delayed by request limits or upstream interruptions. Watched sections receive priority, but an hourly update for every section is not guaranteed.

The registrar can change a seat count between our checks. Alerts depend on dibs detecting an opening and completing delivery; a quiet watch does not prove that no seat opened. Check the registrar before enrolling.
