What should I take?

6 classes with no limit on who may enroll, and 4 dibs cannot tell about, each marked on its row

You enroll in the discussion, not the lecture, so a discussion's status is the one that decides whether you get in, and a lecture can read open while every discussion under it is full. Where a class has discussions, the seat figure on its row is theirs and not the lecture's. All 657 UCLA general education courses, ranked on four years of the registrar's grades, how fast they fill, and the latest seat readings.

    Nothing blocked out yet.

Sections that clash with these are hidden.

Seat counts as of : the oldest of these 10 readings. The registrar publishes hourly and dibs reads what it can each hour, so a row can be older than that.

First-year, first quarter, or transferring in? Nothing here is hidden from you, because you have not said what year you are, though 3 of the 224 sections dibs ranked are shut to everybody, whatever year they are. Tell dibs your year. What your degree audit says is left, or add what you have already taken.

The exam, paper, quiz and problem set marks come from what reviewers wrote, and a mark reaches a row here only where at least two of them said the same thing. A blank means nobody said, which is not the same as none: where a reviewer said there were none, the row says none. A mark carrying ×? is a kind reviewers wrote about without any of them giving a number, which is not the same as none either.

Always check MyUCLA before you enroll. dibs holds nothing and cannot move you up a list. If MyUCLA disagrees with this page, MyUCLA is right.

Where dibs holds the breakdown behind an average, the row prints the share who took a D, F or W beside it: an average says how a class went for the middle of the room, and that share says how many it went badly for. Every section page carries a link straight to the registrar's own page for that section, so the source is one tap from the numbers you were reading.

Class you want already full? dibs will email you the moment a seat opens in it. Open the class, tap Sign in to watch for an opening, and that is your alert set. It costs nothing and it needs an account only because the email has to have somewhere to go. Undergraduate courses only: dibs does not send alerts for graduate courses yet, so a graduate class carries no watch button at all.

Why the top of this list is boring

The average GE course at UCLA grades at 3.67 over Fall 2021 to Fall 2025: one figure per course, over every GE course dibs holds a grade record for. 56 of them sit at 3.85 or higher with at least two hundred grades behind them.

dibs holds a second campus figure and it is deliberately not the same one: 3.58 is the average letter grade counted per student rather than per course, over every UCLA course rather than the GEs, and a course with few grades has its own figure pulled toward it. Nothing on this page is ranked at it. A course with no grade record is not ranked at all.

So near the top, the grade has stopped telling you anything. What is left is whether you can get in, when it meets, and whether you want to be in the room for ten weeks. Lower down the list, the grade starts telling you a great deal.

Rather ask a question than read a list? Ask dibs what you still need, how a class has graded, or whether a section is open. It needs an account, because it has to know which courses you have taken before it can answer anything about your own enrollment.
