Seats are held for entering students who enroll through New Student Orientation sessions beginning July 2, 2026. New student restrictions will be lifted on September 15, 2026 at 8 a.m. Wait lists are not possible because of the three-part structure (lecture, discussion, and laboratory). Students who retake Physics 5A must enroll in all three sections: lecture, discussion, and laboratory. Once enrolled, send an e-mail to mtran@physics.ucla.edu with your name, student ID number, and quarter in which you originally took the laboratory. You will be manually enrolled in the G99 laboratory. Any student attempting to hold a spot for another student is violating Student Conduct Code 102.23d and may be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students. See https://pa.ucla.edu/physics-and-astronomy-enrollment-information.html for more information.
Held for entering students enrolling through orientation until 15 September. If that is you, the seats are yours now. If not, that date lifts the new-student hold only: this class is also New Transfers Only and Undergraduate Students Only, which it does not lift.

What students say
Dibs measures outcomes: grades, seats, how fast it fills. For what the class is actually like to sit in, BruinWalk has the reviews.
Enrollment over time
A dot is a reading where something moved: the seat count, the status, or the waitlist. The last one is the most recent sweep, moved or not. The line holds flat between dots because that is what the readings say: it did not drift, it held and then jumped. The ticks along the bottom are the hours Dibs recorded reading this section, which is how a flat run says "checked, unchanged" rather than "nobody looked". It only keeps those from 25 August, so the ruler is shorter than the line for now. Both start when Dibs did rather than reaching back before it existed.
