ENGLISH COMPOSITION POLICY FOR ATTENDANCE AND LATE ENROLLMENT (ALL CLASSES): The department will cancel your enrollment in any English Composition class if you do not attend at least one of the first two class meetings. For English Composition 3 and all subsequent courses, students must satisfy the University of California Entry-Level Writing requirement before enrolling. For detailed information about the Entry-Level Writing requirement, see the UCLA General Catalog or https://www.wp.ucla.edu/undergraduate/undergraduate-writing-requirements/freshman/ . The Fall Quarter Informed Placement Process (IPP) will be given at a time and location to be determined. For more information, see https://www.wp.ucla.edu/placement/ipp/ . Seats are held for entering students who enroll through New Student Orientation sessions beginning July 2, 2026. New student restrictions will be lifted on September 15, 2026 at 8 a.m.

Held for entering students enrolling through orientation until 15 September. If that is you, the seats are yours now. If not, that date lifts the new-student hold only: this class is also Instructor Consent, which it does not lift.

What students say

Dibs measures outcomes: grades, seats, how fast it fills. For what the class is actually like to sit in, BruinWalk has the reviews.

Enrollment over time

A dot is a reading where something moved: the seat count, the status, or the waitlist. The last one is the most recent sweep, moved or not. The line holds flat between dots because that is what the readings say: it did not drift, it held and then jumped. The ticks along the bottom are the hours Dibs recorded reading this section, which is how a flat run says "checked, unchanged" rather than "nobody looked". It only keeps those from 25 August, so the ruler is shorter than the line for now. Both start when Dibs did rather than reaching back before it existed.
