(Formerly numbered 123.) Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour (when scheduled). Preparation: one philosophy course. Discussion of how moral, social, and political values inform scientific inquiry. May be repeated for credit with consent of instructor. May be concurrently scheduled with course C236. P/NP or letter grading.
