Grades
4.00
Average grade awarded in STATS 140XP. Not a student rating: this is what
the grades were.
The mean of every letter grade the registrar has published for this course, pooled across every instructor who has taught it. It is not shrunk toward anything, because a course average cannot be pulled toward itself. Standard error 0.147.
In the A range
The share who got an A minus or better: A+, A or A minus, out of every letter grade awarded in this course. Pass/no pass outcomes are counted separately and are not in this figure.
100%
of the 1 letter grades
D, F or W
The share who finished with a D or an F, or withdrew. The closest thing here to a difficulty signal: it counts the people the course went badly for, which an average grade hides. Pass/no pass and S/U outcomes are counted separately and are not in this figure, so a no-pass is not in it either.
0.0%
of every letter grade awarded, plus withdrawals
Taken pass/no pass
The share who took this pass/no pass rather than for a letter grade. A high number usually means it is popular as a GE with people protecting an average. These students are excluded from the figure at the top of this block.
0%
nobody in the record took it pass/no pass
The registrar's own records: 1 grades over 4 terms, Fall 2021 to Fall 2025.
Every instructor is pooled here.

Percentages are of the 1 letter grades. Grey bars are non-letter outcomes: in progress (IP).
›iHow the non-letter outcomes are counted
They are excluded from the GPA entirely rather than scored, because counting a P as a
4.0 would be a fabrication.
By instructor
Predicted GPA, raw average, sample size, terms, A range and the workload reviewers
reported for every instructor with a grade record in this course
“Predicted” is shrunk toward the course average, which is itself shrunk toward the
department, so an instructor with a handful of students sits near the course mean rather
than topping the list.
Grade records describe outcomes. For what a course is like to take, read student reviews
written on dibs below or follow the separate external review link.
Work types reported in BruinWalk reviews of this course, across recorded instructors and terms. They may differ from this term's syllabus.
dibs has not read this course’s reviews, so it cannot say what kind of work it sets.
That is dibs not having looked. It is not a course without papers or exams, and the reviews
linked below are the answer until dibs catches up.
The chain dibs can see is 6 courses long before STATS 140XP. This is a floor, not a deadline: dibs has not read a class page for MATH 170A, MATH 3B, and STATS 101B, so the real chain can only be longer than this, never shorter.
Counted in courses rather than quarters: dibs does not know which of them a department
lets you take together.
In Falls
Ran in 2 of the last 5 Falls, so it turns up in Fall sometimes rather than dependably. dibs has no record of it in any quarter since Winter 2023.
From the terms dibs holds, which start in Fall 2021 and exclude summer.
A department can run a course in a quarter it never has before.
From the registrar's catalog
(Formerly numbered 140SL.) Lecture, one hour; discussion, two hours. Enforced requisites: courses 100B, 101B. Limited to seniors. Opportunity to solve real data analysis problems for real community-based or campus-based clients. Students work in small groups with faculty member and client to frame client’s question in statistical terms, create statistical model, analyze data, and report results. Weekly meetings in classroom setting to study basic consulting skills, share experiences, exchange ideas, and make reports. On-site visits as necessary. Courses 140XP and 141XP must be taken in consecutive terms. In Progress grading (credit to be given only on completion of course 141XP).

A guess about whether this will still be here at your enrollment pass, from how full it is now and how fast classes like it have filled before. Seat risk is a prediction and seat status is what the registrar said: they are two things, and this page keeps them apart.

How each lecture has filled since dibs first saw it.
This course runs 3 lectures; the legend under the chart picks one.
A dot is a reading where something moved: the seat count, the status, or the waitlist.
›iWhat a flat run means, and where a line starts
Flat between dots means it did not drift, it held and then jumped, and a line starts when
dibs first saw that lecture rather than reaching back before it existed. A lecture that
has never moved draws a flat line across the whole window, and one with two or three
readings draws a line joining them, which is too few to read a trend from.

dibs read 168 of the 522 hours its hourly record covers, 32%, and did not look in 354. dibs had no hourly record before 10 Sep, which is the other 534 of 1056 plotted.39 of 40 enrolled at the newest reading, 2 hours ago, and no seats left. Seats from 18 Aug 18:40 to 1 Oct 17:22, 40 to 39. dibs read 168 of the 522 hours its hourly record here covers, 32%. An hour marked as read confirms a check, not continuous monitoring. That check recorded no change; changes between checks may be missed. For 354 hours dibs was keeping a record and did not reach this section. Nothing before 10 September at 00:00, where this section's record starts, has a read either way, which is 534 hours of this window. Where the drawing is faint or broken, that never means the readings are doubtful. It means the stretch between them is unaccounted for.

›iHow readings and alerts work
A reading and an hourly record are different things, and most charts here hold more of the second missing than present. dibs has taken readings of a section since long before it began keeping an hour-by-hour log of when it looked, so the empty stretches are dibs saying it was not keeping that log yet, not that it looked and found nothing. That is the age of the record and not a fault.
Seat counts show the last successful read, not live availability. Refreshes can be delayed by request limits or upstream interruptions. Watched sections receive priority, but an hourly update for every section is not guaranteed.
The registrar can change a seat count between our checks. Alerts depend on dibs detecting an opening and completing delivery; a quiet watch does not prove that no seat opened. Check the registrar before enrolling.
