What comes first

The chain dibs can see is 2 courses long before ENGR 181W. Read from Fall 2026, because dibs has not read a class page for ENGR 181W in Winter 2027 and a department can change what it requires. This is a floor, not a deadline: dibs has not read a class page for ENGCOMP 2 and ENGCOMP 2I, so the real chain can only be longer than this, never shorter.

Counted in courses rather than quarters: dibs does not know which of them a department lets you take together.

From the registrar's catalog

Lecture, four hours; discussion, two hours; outside study, nine hours. Requisite: English Composition 3. Focus on critical thinking and writing for chemical engineers. Offers broader societal context through the examination of ethical issues related to chemical engineering. Students develop skills to more effectively communicate their thoughts and their work. An engineering ethics component focuses on case study while a technical component focuses on concepts from four chemical engineering core courses. Students gain tools to think more critically and holistically about the ethical and societal dimensions of their work as chemical engineers. In-class writing and exercises are designed to help students with homework, team project, debate, and final laboratory report. Satisfies Writing II requirement. Letter grading.
