From the registrar's catalog
Lecture, four hours; outside study, eight hours. Introduction to music of various African cultures and regions. Through readings, lectures, viewing of films, and analysis of music, students gain greater understanding of diverse musical traditions found on African continent and become more cognizant of contributions that people of Africa have made to world music. Concurrently scheduled with course C236B. Letter grading.
