The registrar's own records: 7,758 grades over 16 terms, Fall 2021 to Fall 2025. 3 of those terms are summer sessions, and summer sessions are counted here. Every instructor is pooled here. The table below splits them, and term averages across those 16 terms ran 2.70 to 3.62.

  • A+ 680 · 8.8%
  • A 1,553 · 20.0%
  • A- 1,294 · 16.7%
  • B+ 1,116 · 14.4%
  • B 911 · 11.7%
  • B- 680 · 8.8%
  • C+ 523 · 6.7%
  • C 415 · 5.3%
  • C- 351 · 4.5%
  • D+ 2 · 0.0%
  • D 151 · 1.9%
  • D- 6 · 0.1%
  • F 76 · 1.0%
  • P 28 of 7,818
  • NP 7 of 7,818
  • I 23 of 7,818
  • DR 2 of 7,818

Percentages are of the 7,758 letter grades. Grey bars are non-letter outcomes: passes (P), no-passes (NP), incompletes (I), and withdrawals (DR). They are excluded from the GPA entirely rather than scored, because counting a P as a 4.0 would be a fabrication. Withdrawals are the exception to "excluded": DR is not scored, but it IS counted in the D, F or W figure above, which is reported over the letter grades plus the withdrawals. Pass/no pass and S/U outcomes are outside that figure on both sides.

“Predicted” is shrunk toward the course average, which is itself shrunk toward the department, so an instructor with a handful of students sits near the course mean rather than topping the list.

dibs measures outcomes: grades, seats, how fast a class fills. For what a class is like to sit in, BruinWalk has the reviews.

What comes first

The chain dibs can see is 1 course long before CHEM 14B. dibs has read a class page for every course in it.

Counted in courses rather than quarters: dibs does not know which of them a department lets you take together.

In Falls

Ran in 5 of the last 5 Falls.

From the terms dibs holds, which start in Fall 2021 and exclude summer. A department can run a course in a quarter it never has before.

From the registrar's catalog

Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Enforced requisite: one course from 14A, 14AE, 20A, or 20AH with grade of C- or better. Enforced requisite or corequisite: Life Sciences 30B or Mathematics 3B or 31B with grade of C- or better. Not open to students with credit for course 14BE, 20B, or 20BH. Chemical equilibria in gases and liquids, acid-base equilibrium; phase changes; thermochemistry; first, second, and third laws of thermodynamics; free energy changes; electrochemistry and its role as energy source; chemical kinetics, including catalysis, and reaction mechanisms. P/NP or letter grading.

Sections in Fall 2026

You enroll in the discussion, not the lecture, so a discussion's status is the one that decides whether you get in. A lecture can read open while every discussion under it is full.

Seat counts as of : the oldest of these 7 readings. The registrar publishes hourly and dibs reads what it can each hour, so a row can be older than that.

Final enrollment, averaged across each term's sections: between 208 and 356 a term over 13 terms, summer excluded, most recently 345 in Fall 2025. That is the shape across years, not this term, which is above.

Across the 408 hours from 17 Aug 12:32 to 3 Sep 11:29, dibs holds a read record for 168 of them. Where the line is flat across an hour dibs did read, the count held: that is checked and unchanged, rather than nobody having looked. For 9 hours dibs was keeping a record and did not reach this section. Nothing before 27 August at 03:00, where this section's record starts, has a read either way, which is 231 hours of this window. A hedged line never means the readings are doubtful. It means the stretch between them is unaccounted for.
