You are looking at Spring 2026. That term is over, so these are last term's numbers rather than seats you can take. dibs holds 21 sections for Spring 2026, read 27 days ago. Separately, it has finished 15 of the 3,592 courses on its current checking list for this term. Future-term coverage is incomplete, so a course with nothing here may simply not have been reached yet. The registrar's own records: 165 grades over 4 terms, Fall 2021 to Fall 2025. Every instructor is pooled here.

What is inside that record

No summer session is in that record.

The table below splits them, and term averages across those 4 terms ran 3.56 to 3.96.

Historical grades for all professors, across recorded terms. The course summary above includes all professors.

  • A+ 37 · 22.4%
  • A 78 · 47.3%
  • A- 20 · 12.1%
  • B+ 17 · 10.3%
  • B 4 · 2.4%
  • B- 4 · 2.4%
  • C+ 1 · 0.6%
  • C 3 · 1.8%
  • D 1 · 0.6%
  • I 2 of 167

Percentages are of the 165 letter grades. Grey bars are non-letter outcomes: incompletes (I).

How the non-letter outcomes are counted

They are excluded from the GPA entirely rather than scored, because counting a P as a 4.0 would be a fabrication.

By instructor

Predicted GPA, raw average, sample size, terms, A range and the workload reviewers reported for every instructor with a grade record in this course
Instructor Predicted GPA Raw n Terms A range Workload Spring 2026
VILLANUEVA, CLAUDIO JAVIER reviews ↗ 3.77 3.77 165 4 82% very light not teaching it
Why Predicted is not the Raw average

“Predicted” is shrunk toward the course average, which is itself shrunk toward the department, so an instructor with a handful of students sits near the course mean rather than topping the list.

Grade records describe outcomes. For what a course is like to take, read student reviews written on dibs below or follow the separate external review link.

What comes first

The chain dibs can see is 1 course long before PHYSCI 148. Read from Fall 2026, because dibs has not read a class page for PHYSCI 148 in Spring 2026 and a department can change what it requires. This is a floor, not a deadline: dibs has not read a class page for PHYSCI 111B, so the real chain can only be longer than this, never shorter.

Counted in courses rather than quarters: dibs does not know which of them a department lets you take together.

In Springs

Has not run in Spring in the 3 Springs dibs holds records for, back to Fall 2022. That is 3 years of grade records rather than the course catalog, so it says what has happened and not what the department will do next.

From the terms dibs holds, which start in Fall 2021 and exclude summer. A department can run a course in a quarter it never has before.

From the registrar's catalog

Lecture, two and one half hours; discussion, two hours. Requisite: course 111B. Study of energy metabolism and processing of macronutrients like carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins in mammals. Students gain tools and knowledge for synthesizing new information from advances in nutrition research to add to basic understanding of macronutrient metabolism. Use of clinical case studies to understand how human mutations in metabolic pathways lead to metabolic disorders. Discussion of diabetes, atherosclerosis, glycogen storage disease, inborn errors of metabolism, mitochondrial disorders, and lysosomal storage diseases. Study of how cells sense nutrients and adapt metabolism to unique needs of cells—for example, how cells respond to excess cholesterol. Discussion of mechanisms involved in import, export, and synthesis of nutrients. Use of primary literature to analyze primary research related to topics covered in lectures. Letter grading.
