The registrar's own records: 243 grades over 4 terms, Fall 2021 to Fall 2025. Every instructor is pooled here.
What is inside that record
No summer session is in that record.
The table below splits them, and term averages across those 4 terms ran 2.99 to 3.69.
Historical grades for all professors, across recorded terms. The course summary above includes all professors.
- A 105 · 43.2%
- A- 34 · 14.0%
- B+ 20 · 8.2%
- B 26 · 10.7%
- B- 16 · 6.6%
- C+ 11 · 4.5%
- C 7 · 2.9%
- C- 10 · 4.1%
- D+ 3 · 1.2%
- D 4 · 1.6%
- F 7 · 2.9%
- P 6 of 251
- NP 2 of 251
Percentages are of the 243 letter grades. Grey bars are non-letter outcomes: passes (P) and no-passes (NP).
How the non-letter outcomes are counted
They are excluded from the GPA entirely rather than scored, because counting a P as a 4.0 would be a fabrication.

Why Predicted is not the Raw average
“Predicted” is shrunk toward the course average, which is itself shrunk toward the department, so an instructor with a handful of students sits near the course mean rather than topping the list.
Grade records describe outcomes. For what a course is like to take, read student reviews written on dibs below or follow the separate external review link.
Workload and assignments
Work types reported in BruinWalk reviews of this course, across recorded instructors and terms. They may differ from this term's syllabus.
dibs has not read this course’s reviews, so it cannot say what kind of work it sets. That is dibs not having looked. It is not a course without papers or exams, and the reviews linked below are the answer until dibs catches up.
What comes first
The chain dibs can see is 1 course long before GEOG 119. Read from Fall 2026, because dibs has not read a class page for GEOG 119 in Fall 2025 and a department can change what it requires. dibs has read a class page for every course in it.
Counted in courses rather than quarters: dibs does not know which of them a department lets you take together.
In Falls
Ran in 1 of the last 3 Falls, so it turns up in Fall sometimes rather than dependably.
From the terms dibs holds, which start in Fall 2021 and exclude summer. A department can run a course in a quarter it never has before.
From the registrar's catalog
Lecture, two hours; discussion, one hour. Requisite: course 1. Survey of the Earth's climate system and the factors that cause it to change. Study of the most important properties of climate and how they vary and connect geographically and over time. The physical laws governing climate variations and interconnections are explained to build a basic-level understanding of natural climate phenomena as well as the impacts of human industrial and agricultural activities. Examination of the source of the Earth's heat energy, the determinants of temperature near the surface and throughout the atmosphere, and how the observed seasonal and spatial variations are created. Introduction to the various motion systems in the atmosphere and ocean and their governing physical laws. Exploration of the nature and causes of past changes in global climate evident in paleo records. Survey of the current understanding of the ongoing human-caused climate change event and how climate models are used to develop projections of future climate change. P/NP or letter grading.
