You are looking at Winter 2026. That term is over, so these are last term's numbers rather than seats you can take. dibs holds 1,472 sections for Winter 2026, read about 1 month ago. Separately, it has finished 195 of the 3,572 courses on its current checking list for this term. Future-term coverage is incomplete, so a course with nothing here may simply not have been reached yet. Back to Fall 2026

CLUSTER 80A

Frontiers in Human Aging

Sections & times

This is a year, not a class

Clusters run across three quarters, fall, winter, then the spring seminar, and UCLA counts the credit on completing the yearlong cluster: four GE requirements and the Writing II requirement. Signing up for the first quarter is signing up for the year.

  1. 80A: you are here
  2. 80BX
  3. 80CW

Dibs only reads Winter 2026, so the later parts show no sections here: that is this term, not the sequence ending. What you keep if you take only part of a cluster is a question for the Cluster Program, not something these numbers answer.

Grades

3.59

Average grade awarded in CLUSTER 80A. Not a student rating: this is what the grades were.

In the A range

D, F or W

0.8%

of every letter grade awarded, plus withdrawals

Taken pass/no pass

7 of 7 students passed

The registrar's own records: 761 grades over 5 terms, Fall 2021 to Fall 2025. Every instructor is pooled here.

What is inside that record

No summer session is in that record.

The table below splits them, and term averages across those 5 terms ran 3.56 to 3.63.

Historical grades for all professors, across recorded terms. The course summary above includes all professors.

  • A+ 20 · 2.6%
  • A 372 · 48.9%
  • A- 130 · 17.1%
  • B+ 97 · 12.7%
  • B 64 · 8.4%
  • B- 27 · 3.5%
  • C+ 24 · 3.2%
  • C 12 · 1.6%
  • C- 9 · 1.2%
  • D+ 3 · 0.4%
  • D 2 · 0.3%
  • F 1 · 0.1%
  • P 7 of 770
  • I 2 of 770

Percentages are of the 761 letter grades. Grey bars are non-letter outcomes: passes (P) and incompletes (I).

How the non-letter outcomes are counted

They are excluded from the GPA entirely rather than scored, because counting a P as a 4.0 would be a fabrication.

By instructor

Predicted GPA, raw average, sample size, terms, A range and the workload reviewers reported for every instructor with a grade record in this course
Instructor Predicted GPA Raw n Terms A range Workload Winter 2026
HAHM, ARYUN reviews ↗ 3.59 3.59 761 5 69% - not teaching it
SOROOSH, ARTIN reviews ↗ 3.59 3.59 455 3 69% light not teaching it
HSU, PAUL T reviews ↗ 3.58 3.57 315 2 68% average not teaching it
Why Predicted is not the Raw average

“Predicted” is shrunk toward the course average, which is itself shrunk toward the department, so an instructor with a handful of students sits near the course mean rather than topping the list.

Grade records describe outcomes. For what a course is like to take, read student reviews written on dibs below or follow the separate external review link.

In Winters

Has not run in Winter in the 4 Winters dibs holds records for, back to Fall 2021. That is 4 years of grade records rather than the course catalog, so it says what has happened and not what the department will do next.

From the terms dibs holds, which start in Fall 2021 and exclude summer. A department can run a course in a quarter it never has before.

From the registrar's catalog

Lecture, three hours; discussion, two hours. Course 80A is enforced requisite to 80B, which is enforced requisite to 80CW. Limited to first-year freshmen. Examination of aging process from vantage points of multiple disciplines, including biology, psychology, sociology, ethics, and public policy. Study of biomedical and biological aging and psychological, social, and ethical implications of phenomena. P/NP or letter grading.

Sections in Winter 2026

dibs has not read Winter 2026 for this course, so it cannot say whether it runs. dibs reads the term you are enrolling in first and the rest a little at a time; the registrar's own listing is the answer until this one catches up.
